Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008I posted a video response to the 1L diesel engine start up. People don’t seem to understand what went on before I tried to start the motor. The motor was in a truck that was totalled back in 1985. The truck was sold for salvage and the owner intended to fix it, but never got around to it. So it sat outside from 1985 until 2002 when I managed to buy it. Along the way, the hood and air cleaner were sold or scrapped. I bought the truck without hearing the motor run, so it was a risky venture. As it turned out it was all worth it in the end. Six years later it still runs fine and I havent done anything else to it except change the oil.
Toyota’s most efficient turbo diesel engine, is now also the most desirable engine swap. The 1KZ-TE turbo diesel engine is a 4 cylinder 3.0L (2982 cc) SOHC with 2 valves per cylinder. Bore is 96mm and stroke is 103mm with a compression ratio of 21.2:1. Maximum output is 130 hp (97 kW) @ 3600 rpm and a maximum torque of 29.3 kgf-m (287 N-m) @ 2000 rpm. Max rpm is 4400.
